We have all been there; browsing through various social media websites and looking at people’s photographs and thinking the same thing; “Why do their photos look so much better than mine?” Is it because they are more attractive in their selfies? Probably. Is it because their cameras are better than yours? Yeah maybe. But are they doing something else to make their photos look any better? The answer, again, is probably yes. All you need to do is have a little scroll through your phone or, when you’re uploading your pictures to your PC or MAC, have a mess around with your edit settings and you’ll find something important.

Contrast. Specifically high contrast. Imagine it in a simple way; you upload a picture of yourself on a beach. You’ve got a slight tan, and the sun isn’t that blue and the sand is a little off. You do not need to fret though; turn up the contrast and suddenly you look browner, the sky looks that much more blue and the sand looks that much more heavenly.
