Over the years technology has become more and more advanced. Vinyls became cds, cds became mp3s and now everyone and their grand mother has an ipod. One of the industries most affected by the shift to modernity is the photography industry. Stores dedicated to selling cameras and printing photographs are on the verge of extinction; with almost every single phone available today able to take extremely high quality photographs and store thousands in its memory.
A lot of people, though, are fighting back. Not content with storing photographs on their phones, they’re actively going out and doing what photography is all about. Printing pictures. It’s all very well and good having memories on your phone – but a printed and framed picture is priceless, and keeps that memory on display forever. The polaroid, in particular, has seen a rise in popularity recently – with many shops, once again, choosing to stock the classic camera. They’re particularly popular with hipsters and university students.
